Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, under which more than ₹20,500 crore was transferred to over 9.7 crore farmers across the country on Saturday.

Lauding the initiative, CM Sharma emphasized the scheme’s role in empowering the rural economy and echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiment: “PM Modi has rightly said that the nation will not develop until the farmers of the country develop. The financial assistance under this scheme is reaching farmers directly through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), ensuring transparency and efficiency.”

Prime Minister Modi released the instalment from Varanasi, bringing the total disbursal under the scheme since its inception in 2019 to over ₹3.90 lakh crore.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in February 2019, provides income support of ₹6,000 per year to land-holding farmers, delivered in three equal instalments directly to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts via DBT. It is fully funded by the central government and aims to supplement farmers’ financial needs for inputs and domestic requirements.

In addition to financial assistance, the scheme has evolved with the adoption of digital tools. Innovations like Kisan eMitra, a voice-based chatbot, and AgriStack, a tech-driven platform for personalised farm advisory services, are modernising Indian agriculture.

Farmers can self-register online, verify their land records digitally, and receive funds without bureaucratic delays. To ensure maximum outreach, India Post is helping farmers link their mobile numbers with Aadhaar through the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to complete e-KYC.

The PM-KISAN scheme continues to be a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to farmer welfare and rural transformation, with leaders like CM Sharma underscoring its long-term importance in national development.
